West Chicago, IL (December 6, 2012) - With the holiday season underway, Chicago-based textile recycling company USAgain is getting in the holiday spirit by donating coats, gloves and hats to local chapters of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America nationwide. The initiative provides a convenient, accessible method for people to donate locally during the season of giving.
USAgain will donate all of its gently used outerwear collected in their bins to Boys and Girls Clubs during the week of December 10, 2012. Donations will remain in the communities where they are collected, meaning a jacket donated in the Chicago area will be distributed to a child or family in need in Chicago.
"Giving is what the holidays are all about, and we're proud to partner with an organization that spreads as much good will as the Boys and Girls Club," said Mattias Wallander, CEO of USAgain. "We encourage people to share their good fortune with their neighbors in need by donating coats to help children and their families in need get through the winter months."
People can drop their gently used coats, hats, scarfs and gloves to a participating USAgain collection bin throughout the country beginning this weekend and through the week of December 10, 2012. The donated clothing may be slightly worn but will be in excellent condition to be used again...The campaign is running in 10 cities where USAgain warehouse divisions are located: Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, New York, Pennsylvania, St. Louis, San Francisco, and Seattle.
With more than 10,000 collection bins in 17 states, USAgain - a for-profit textile recycling company - diverted 30,000 tons of unwanted clothing and textiles from landfills last year. Textile recycling is a green business model that is sustainable at a time when Americans throw out an alarming 85 percent of their unwanted clothing in the trash.
"Your generous contribution helps to make the season a little brighter and warmer for thousands of people across the country," Wallander said. "This partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs will keep unwanted clothing out of landfills and help out those in need - one article of reused clothing at a time."
